About the Human

Greetings!

I am Francois Basson, a passionate software developer based in the vibrant Cape Town region.

After earning my BSc in Computer Science and developing a CRUD application for a metrology solutions provider, I transitioned to a more hands-on technical role as an Instrumentation Mechanic at SASOL Synfuels. During my nine years there, I learned the importance of problem-solving, critical thinking, and teamwork.

Following my time at SASOL, I returned to my passion for software development, leveraging both my academic background and practical experience to grow as a developer.

As a Senior Software Engineer at Takealot, I’ve spent seven years refining my skills in Python and JavaScript. My focus is on creating solutions for business using microservices deployed in the cloud, and I’m always eager to expand my knowledge of languages like Go and Rust.
